Claudette

THE PLACE

Welcome to Claudette, one of New York's newest brunch spots. Claudette offers a classy and upscale vibe, with a gorgeous, bright, white interior that makes you feel like you are dining in the south of France. And stay tuned-- Claudette will be opening up a private event space downstairs. It will be ideal for a small sized baby or bridal shower.

What to Eat

For those of you tired of standard omelets, Claudette has a pretty unique take on brunch classics. Try the Tomato Benedict, with poached eggs, tomato confit, swiss chard, and herbs de provence, or the Harissa Baked Eggs, with chickpea ragoût, tomato and flatbread. Save room for dessert and get Claudette's Honey Pot. It's huge and great for a group.

What to Drink

Claudette has a number of original brunch cocktails on the menu-- all priced at $12. The Isabelle is a mix of Lillet (my absolute fav!) & Creme Yvette, and the Truffaut contains Diplomatico Rum, Berry Jam and Mint.

Egg Shop

THE PLACE

Egg Shop is another one of New York's newest (and best!) brunch spots. You can show up literally anytime, as it is open everyday until Midnight. You'll enter a tiny restaurant with a Southern Californian vibe and tunes of the Beach Boys playing in the background. Egg shop is simple, straightforward and refreshing. It is to eggs what Empire Biscuit is to biscuits.

What to Eat

Eggs! At Egg Shop you're selecting between 8 Egg Sandwiches (that can also be made with gluten free bread) and 7 Egg Cruisers-- i.e. anything in a bowl. Or you can opt to build your own egg and cheese sandwich with a variety of ingredients. I like the B.E.C Sandwich with broke yolk, Shelburne Cheddar, Blackforest bacon, tomato jam, pickled jalepeno, on a panini roll.

What to Drink

Details are important, and Egg Shop does it right when immediately upon sitting you are served a jug of water infused with fresh mint and lemon. It's a nice touch. But that's not all-- this small spot still has room for cocktails, beer & wine, and Bloody Marys with a Bacon Salt Rim.
