Butcher's Daughter is an impressive eatery downtown that has an earthy, cafe feel. Plants cover the counter, hang from the ceiling and line the walls. Contrary to what the name may invoke, this spot is anything but a meat market. According to them, it's a "vegetable slaughterhouse." It's a great spot to meet up with a friend for some casual, healthy bites and a fun catch-up.
What to Eat
The standout dish is the Smashed Avocado Toast Benedict. The ham of a traditional Benedict is swapped out for an avocado spread-- a mixture of lime, lemon, curry, mustard, cilantro, and a whole bunch of other nutritious goodness. The bread it comes on is amazing and from a vegan company called Bread Alone.
What to Drink
Shots! But not the kind you had the night before… Butcher's Daughter has numerous shots that will keep any body healthy. Go for the Vampire Slayer, a mix of Ginger, Lemon, Garlic and Cayenne Pepper, or the Green Day, a blend of Wheatgrass, Jalepeno, Coconut Water & Lime. I'm convinced this is what got me over my cold last weekend. (Don't worry, beer & wine are also available too.)
Brunch reservations are not accepted.
