The Gander is offering their a la carte menu for Easter, plus menu additions like a Rack of Lamb with English peas and mint. From the regular menu, I highly recommend the Duck Confit Hash with port Béarnaise sauce.
The Gander opened a little less than a year ago and is a great spot for brunch. This casual yet sophisticated American restaurant has a classy, fresh, and comfortable interior that will be a great option for a picky group.
What to Eat
The Gander was started by chef and owner Jesse Schenker of Recette in the West Village. And like like Recette, the quality of food is terrific. Get ready for Confit Duck Hash, with a Poached Duck Egg, Port Bearnaise Sauce (yum!), and Duck Chicharrones, as well as Maine Lobster Sliders with Shrimp Aioli, and Fried Shallots. The Calamari Salad deserves and honorable mention. If you enjoy more traditional brunchie™ foods, you'll love the German Pancake with Rhubarb Marmalade.
What to Drink
Opt for the Oyster Cocktail with house Bloody Mary mix, freshly grated horseradish, your choice of vodka/gin/tequila/mezcal, housemade pickle brine mist, and a micro herbs garnish, and served in a Nick & Nora glass.
Brunch reservations are accepted for parties of two or more.
