ONE for Mother's DayDirty French
Birds & Bubbles
Birds & Bubbles is an impressive restaurant and I might just label it as one of the best new brunch spots of 2015, really! The restaurant is all about fried chicken and champagne, and here you'll receive premium service and excellent, decadent food, in a space that is inviting and warm.
Seeing as how it's going to be a comfortable 72 degrees Saturday, you should head on over to the back patio at Birds & Bubbles. It's one of the best (and largest) in the game.
What to Eat
The brunch food at Birds & Bubbles really stands out. Start with the homemade Cherry Pop Tart, and then move onto the Birdies in a Blanket. It is a bucket full of chicken that has been dipped in waffle batter, and then fried. This is what brunch was made for, baby! Don't forget to get the Crispy Potatoes as a side. They are unlike any breakfast potatoes you've ever had.
What to Drink
Birds and Bubbles is all about the Champagne. The list is extensive and comprehensive and there's a Champagne for everyone. If you like cocktails get the June Bug for sure. It's made with Pimms, Chartreuse, Aperol, Cucumber, Mint and Champagne.
Brunch reservations are accepted for indoor seating. Outdoor seating is first come first served.
Dirty French recently opened for brunch. It's basically a French bistro that has been "dirtied" up a bit. This urban-chic establishment has a sexy vibe, made possible by the wood paneling, red banquettes, large mirror outlined in lights, and chandeliers that look like they've been imported from an old French chateau.
I like it for Mother's Day because they are not doing an expensive minimum for the holiday. A lot of places will use Mother's day and Easter as an excuse to lock you into an expensive prix fixe. But Dirty French is offering their usual a la carte brunch menu to patrons and keeping things straightforward and simple.
What to Eat
Skip the Crepes American (pancakes) and instead indulge in the Duck Hash, made with confit duck leg pieces and a fried egg. If mom is more of a lunchie-brunch person, there are plenty of entrees for her to choose from. I like the Scallop Provencale with Artichoke and Vadouvan (a blend of spices).
What to Drink
If you are with a group, order one of the brunch pitchers. There are four to choose between, including a pitcher of Bloody Mary. The Imperial Planter's Punch is made with rum, fresh grapefruit and lime juice. You can also get individual cocktails for $16 each.
Brunch reservations are accepted for parties as small as 2.
And, reservations for Mother's Day are still available (for you procrastinators!).
