My Group Event at Black Barn
I recently hosted a group of 22 people in Black Barn's Cellar room, and our experience was top notch. I couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate with my friends and impress them, and am proud to share Black Barn with the BrunchCritic community.
I must get asked 10 times a week where to host a celebration, and more specifically, the request is for a suggestion on where to host a Baby or Bridal Shower. Well folks, drum roll please, Black Barn is my top pick and I whole heartedly recommend it.
Dedicated Dining Rooms
What's really beautiful are the spaces above and below the main dining room, the Loft and the Cellar (pictured). In each, you can pump in your own music, and have the perfect atmosphere to celebrate a special occasion.
Black Barn has a long list of brunch items to choose from for a group event. Having many options ensures there's something for even the pickiest eater. Below is what I selected for our group's three-course brunch, and seriously everything was a crowd pleaser. All the plates are served family style, and the portions are generous.
- Assorted House-made Pastries with Butter and House-made Jam
- Seasonal Fresh Fruit
- Mangalista Charceuterie and Cheese with picked vegetables
- Avocado Toast with tomatoes, baked ricotta and poached egg
- Fried Chicken & Parmesan Rosemary Waffle with Vermont Maple Butter Sauce
- Roasted Turkey Sandwich with Avocado, Tomato, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Sourdough and Parmesan Fries
- Kale Salad with Roasted Acorn Squash, Radicchio, Apple Cider & Buttermilk Dressing
- BBQ Beef Rib Pizza with Tarentaise Cheese, Avocado, Egg, Cilantro Cream
THIRD COURSE - DESSERT:
- Rum Butterscotch Bread Pudding
- Apple Cider Doughnuts
- Pumpkin Cheesecake
All the food was really excellent, and my guests were impressed. The standouts for us were the Fried Chicken and Rosemary Waffles, the Kale Salad (I absolutely loved the Kale Salad-- the Buttermilk Dressing was unique, and not too heavy although it might sound like a bit much), and the BBQ Beef Rib Pizza. All the desserts were to-die-for, and I personally was blown away by the Rum Butterscotch Bread Pudding.
I recommend you opt for the half-priced bottle of bubbly served with quartinos of fresh orange and peach juice. Because the mixing is D-I-Y, everyone in your party can measure their juice-to-sparkling ratio and everyone is happy. There's also 10 other cocktails on the drink menu if you want something a little different. Not bad, for a barn...
I'd like to say a special thanks to our server Shawn and the entire staff for making us feel so welcome and delighted with the overall experience. Weeks later, my guests still tell me what a grand experience they had, and I can't ask for much more than that!
