Jeffrey's Grocery is one of those local hangouts that instantly makes you feel comfortable. Jeffrey's is a smallish place, so it's ideal for groups of 2-4 people, and is also a good choice for a "solo-brunch" at the bar. It's totally worth the subway ride if you're not in the area.
What to Eat
We haven't been this excited about a brunch dish in a long time. Jeffrey's does a new twist on the classic eggs benedict, serving it with crispy pork belly rillette and a nice, light, roasted tomato hollandaise. Really it's incredible. (What does rillette mean you ask? Meat is cubed, salted, cooked slowly in it's own fat until tender enough to be shredded.)
What to Drink
Jeffrey's has customizable bloody Marys, with your choice of traditional, dill, or cilantro-infused vodkas. AND bloodies are served with a beer chaser.
First come, first serve. Brunch reservations not accepted.
